How we respond to government and legal requests for user data. We require valid legal process and disclose only what the law compels.
// 01
We require valid, specific legal process. As a general matter: a subpoena for basic account/subscriber information; a court order for non-content records; and a search warrant for content (prompts, completions, and uploads). We reject requests that are facially invalid, overbroad, or not properly served.
// 02
We honor lawful preservation requests by placing a legal hold that exempts the named data from deletion. A preservation request alone does not compel disclosure; disclosure still requires appropriate legal process.
// 03
We notify affected users of a request for their data before we disclose it, unless we are prohibited by law (for example, a sealed order or a valid non-disclosure provision) or there is an emergency involving a risk of harm.
// 04
We may disclose information without legal process where we believe in good faith that an emergency involving a risk of death or serious physical injury requires it, consistent with applicable law.
// 05
Send legal process to contact@xerotier.ai. Identify the specific account by the email address or project id at issue and state the legal basis. We may seek reimbursement of reasonable costs where the law allows. Requests from outside the United States should come through a Mutual Legal Assistance Treaty or other lawful channel.
